“What’s done cannot be undone”
A prophesy is made – Macbeth shall be king – but the only way to achieve the crown is murder. Supported and encouraged by his wife, the deed is done but “blood will have blood” and soon their actions return to haunt them both. Having ripped away the veneer of respectability and plunged into evil, this once glamorous couple descend in to a hell of their own making, their relationship and their sanity tested to breaking point in this tense, dramatic thriller.
Bard in the Botanics are Scotland’s premier Shakespeare company and, in 2016, are celebrating 15 years of producing Shakespeare’s work. Alongside our main festival in Glasgow’s Botanic Gardens each summer, we also tour regularly and co-produce projects with a number of theatre and companies across Scotland.
As we celebrate Shakespeare’s 400th Anniversary this year, Bard in the Botanics embark on our first summer tour of outdoor venues across Scotland. We are delighted that Cawdor Castle has been included as part of this tour and, particularly, to be bringing an electrifying new version of a play that has such a strong connection to the venue.
The Thane of Cawdor is coming home to his castle this summer!
